We are so grateful for the help of Kohl's volunteers as we prepare for our annual holiday party! Today's group did some touch up painting in our hallways and put together festive flower pots with pine branches and ribbon. Our hearts are so full with the support of our community and their willingness to support the children and families of Penfield Children's Center.

We had a great time with our children and families last Friday at our Family Fall Fest. All the kids loved digging in the rice sensory bin to find buried treasure and toys. Other activities included cookie decorating, fall coloring and pumpkin decorating. Big thank you to our staff volunteers for making it such a fun event! ... See MoreSee Less

Today was a very inspiring day!! Penfield participated in the first of two "Build Days" for our new adaptive toy project: "Inclusive Play: Toys for all". With the help of Marquette University engineering students and local FIRST Robotics teams, we will be able to modify a total of 144 toys. All the toys used during our "Build Days" will be modified with large switch buttons, so children with differing abilities can engage with these toys.

We couldn't have launched this project without the backing of our community supporters, a big thank you to Marquette University’s Opus College of Engineering and its Orthopedic, Rehabilitation Engineering Center (OREC), and Kohl's Building Blocks. Because of your support, we are able to bring this fabulous opportunity to the children of Milwaukee. Thank you Molly Erickson and Dr. Gerald Harris for your engineering excellence and coordination of today's build day.

***Special shoutout, to our very own Speech and Language Pathologist, Vladimir Bjelic. Vladimir was the heartbeat behind this new project, taking it from an idea and turning it into a reality. We are so proud of all your hard work and can't wait to see what's next for Inclusive Play: Toys for all.

We truly are #BetterTogether
